East Java is a wild region with many beautiful peaks, smoking volcanoes, and breathataking- scenery. It's the least densely populated of Java's provinces. Two third of the area is mountainous and hilly slopes with an approximately 48 mountains with the highest peak of Mount Semeru as the highest in Java. East Java itself is always closely connected to the famous Mount Bromo.

Declared as "The city if Heroes" since 1945, it stands in stark contrast to the wilder places that surround it. Surabaya is linked to the birth of the indonesian nation, as it was here that battle for independence began.

The city offers the zoo with its "Komodo" dragon lizard, Archeological museum "Mpu Tantular", Kayoon flower market, Joko Dolog Buddhist statue in honor of the last king of Singosari, Peoples Amusement Park (THR) and more.
Also visit Kalimas harbor to experience a welcome change from the traffic and noise of the city, the Heroes Monument that stands aloof and proud in town, built to honor the heroes fallen during the "Battle of Surabaya". There are still other historic treasurs such as : Majapahit (LMS) Hotel, Grahadi Hall and a number of greats monument spread across Surabaya.
After a full day exploring Surabaya's attractions, you may wish to put your feet up or let your hair down.
